Deadly Bouncy Castle Event Kills 5 Children and Injures 4 Young Children
The deadly incident involved multiple children when the wind created enough momentum to lift a bouncy castle foot into the air Thursday, December 16, 2021, in Devonport, Tasmania.
Police said five children were killed, including two girls falling from a bouncy castle to their deaths, and injured four children. When the incident happened, the jumping castle lifted 33 feet into the air at the Hillcrest Primary School.
The tragedy occurred during a school celebrating their last day when nine 5th and 6th-grade young children from the primary school fell from a height of around 10 meters (33 feet) after a significant wind event. This caused a jumping castle and several inflatable “zorb” balls, the castle that was lifted into the air,” Tasmanian Police said in a statement.

Police officers said after a gust of wind caused the bouncy castle accident. Emergency services arrived at the school. The emergency services personnel pronounced four students deceased and administered first aid to the injured students.
