“Bioweapon” May Have Spilled into the General Population Accidentally

An interesting conspiracy theory is ravaging the media suggesting that the SARS-CoV-2 may be associated with China’s biological weapons research program. The “bioweapon” may have spilled into the general population after a lab-related incident in Wuhan. Let’s explore the details of these allegations with Ehline Law and our personal injury attorneys.

Republicans Serving on the House Intelligence Committee Hearing Allege Covid-19 May Be a Bioweapon

According to the GOP House report, the SARS-CoV-2 may be a bioweapon accidentally released at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The report is based on an investigation involving public and non-public information. It states that there is no indication of an intentional release of the virus by the Chinese military.

Intelligence Community Assessment Refutes GOP House Report Allegations of Chinese Biological Weapon

Although the GOP House report alleges that the SARS-CoV-2 may be part of China’s bioweapons research program, the intelligence community assessment by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence states otherwise.

The intelligence community assessment in October 2021 states that scientifically invalid claims have given rise to the theory that the SARS-CoV-2 virus was part of the Chinese biological weapons research.

Security Person Moves Journalists Away from Wuhan Institute Sparks Fear among Citizens

Many conspiracy theorists took their frustration to the internet after finding footage of a security person moving journalists away from the Wuhan lab, stating the Chinese government was hiding something.

The move prompted a visit from the World Health Organization team to investigate the incident, but they didn’t find anything controversial.

Republicans Start to Ask for More Transparency from the Intelligence Community

Republicans have rejected the intelligence community’s assessment. They believe the report undermines the Chinese biological weapons program’s role in creating the Covid-19 virus. According to the GOP House report, the intelligence community assessment relies on outside “experts” who may have a serious conflict of interest.

The GOP House report states that the intelligence community (IC) refuses to provide additional information about Covid-19 and the experts the IC relied on. It exposes the non-cooperation of the IC with the intelligence committee. Lawmakers are complaining that the IC is not complying with the dozens of requests from committee members.

Following the GOP House report that alleges Covid-19 may have ties with the Chinese biological weapon research, the GOP Representative for Ohio, Brad Wenstrup, took his frustrations to Fox News. He emphasized the need for greater transparency for the American people and alleged that the IC is withholding critical information from authorized elected officials.

Wenstrup further added that the Chinese Communist Party is more responsible for the creation and spread of Covid-19 than what the media has told the American people. According to the congressman, the sooner we understand the origins of Covid-19, the quicker the United States can take action and pursue policies to address the country’s vulnerabilities.

The GOP House report released on December 14, 2022, revealed shortcomings of the IC report and commissions that most probably swayed the public’s understanding of the SARS-CoV-2, further deepening public mistrust.

Origins of Biological Weapons and Viral Diseases

Biological weapons are derived from living organisms and used to cause harm, injury, or death to humans, plants, and animal populations. The use of biological weapons dates all the way back to biblical times. Historically, biowarfare involved plant and fungal toxins, fecal matter, and a decomposing animal or human.

Over centuries, the use of bioweapons ranged from isolated acts carried out by individuals to strategic military use to mass destruction in the form of state-sponsored terrorism. The oldest act of bioterrorism involved contaminating drinking water sources with a dead animal or human cadaver.

In the 14th century, the Mongol army flung dead, infected victims into the walled city of Caffa to force the citizens to surrender. In the 18th century, the British colonial army sent smallpox-infected blankets to northeastern North America to infect the Native Americans.

The British army also used infected civilians to infiltrate the American military and spread the smallpox virus during the American Revolutionary War.

During the early 20th century, the government-sponsored scientific research into the development of biological weapons to cause injuries and death to human, animal, and plant populations.

In World War I, the Germans experimented with anthrax and fungal wheat diseases as part of their biological weapons research. They tried to create a pandemic affecting the Romanian’s wheat supply, spreading glanders in livestock and transporting animals. Their strategy was clearly aimed at reducing their enemy’s food supply and eradicating their transportation system used to carry weapons for the war.

During 1932 and 1945, Japan also experimented with biological weapons and used them across Asia. One example includes the plague-infected fleas spread to create a plague epidemic in China. Even China experimented with more than 10,000 human subjects, testing anthrax, smallpox, and other diseases.

Between the 1980s and 1990s, the Soviet Union created an anti-biotic resistant strain of smallpox and other diseases as part of biological weapons research.

The development of biological weapons poses a serious threat to livestock and wildlife extinction that can eventually affect the human population. Epizootic and zoonotic diseases and plant diseases can threaten the cultivation of food crops and the survival of wildlife and livestock.

Current biological weapons have the potential to spread like wildfire, infecting millions and leading to high mortality in human and animal populations. There is a serious misconception that bioterrorists are unwilling to give up their lives to create and spread infectious diseases.

However, with the recent suicide attacks in the United States, the country needs to reevaluate its assumptions on bioweaponeers.

Russia Alleges Bioweapons Manufacturing in Ukraine in Collaboration with the US – Who Should You Believe?

The Kremlin alleges that the United States and Ukrainian intelligence are developing bioweapons on Ukraine soil to use against the Russians.

According to Russia’s Foreign Minister, it was one of the reasons why the Kremlins decided to invade Ukraine. However, there is no country with more experience in creating such misinformation to justify invasions than Russia.

In 1968, the Russians planted US weapons in Karlovy Vary in Czechoslovakia and waited for the Czechoslovak authorities to make the discovery. Following the discovery of the weapons, the Russians blamed the United States and used it as an excuse to invade Czechoslovak.

In the 1980s, Moscow created another misinformation campaign that the US Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases developed the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) as a potential biological weapon to kill Africans and Arabs.

The Russians and its media are now claiming that the US Army Medical Research Institute in Fort Detrick developed the Covid-19 virus just like the previous epidemics (H1N1, bird flu, Ebola, and Zika virus).

Whether or not Russia is creating a misinformation campaign to justify its invasions is not the point of concern. We must not forget that the United States itself has had experience in biological warfare when combating the Viet Cong troops in Vietnam. Perhaps there is some truth behind the Russian “misinformation” campaign, or maybe it’s all a conspiracy.

Whatever it is, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the US public health system and primary healthcare providers must be ready at all times to adequately address biological agents and combat the spread of high-priority agents that may pose a serious national security threat.

Can You Sue for the Use of Biological Weapons?

Agent Orange, explicitly developed for Vietnam War, was a deadly biological weapon aimed at eradicating the Viet Cong’s food supply.

However, using biological agents had far-reaching consequences for the Vietnamese and the American troops. Veterans started facing severe medical conditions upon their return, and soon lawsuits began flowing in.

In 2020, Freedom Watch and Texas company, Buzz Photos, brought a civil action against the Chinese government, seeking $20 trillion in damages, bigger than China’s GDP! The lawsuit alleges that the Covid-19 virus is a biological weapon manufactured in China to kill mass populations.

Such claims are challenging for an attorney to fight. If the court allows the lawsuit to proceed, it may set a precedent for other countries. The use of biological weapons has long been prohibited, especially if it harms the human population and countries that have used it in the past refuse to acknowledge it.
